Hi, my name is Takahiro Fujii(@taka_ft).
I'm currently working as a web application engineer in Tokyo, Japan, where I have lived for all 30 years of my life.
Some of my interests include basketball, cafe, fashion, food(especially ramen), drinking, etc.
There are already numerous websites dedicated to introducing popular spots and activities around Tokyo.
However, with this site, I'd like to share some of my personal favorite spots in Tokyo (particularly GakugeiDaigaku), and what my daily life is like, through my hobbies and interests.
When taking a trip, what I enjoy most is seeing how the locals spend their day-to-day lives, especially if they share any of my interests.
In the same sense, I hope this site gives visitors an idea of how a local goes about their day in Tokyo.
Station Address(GoogleMap) : 2-21-8, Takaban, Meguro-ku, Tokyo, Japan
Gakugeidaigaku is about 10minutes away from Shibuya via the Toyoko Traom Line.
The 'local' and 'express' trains will both stop at Gakugeidaigaku.
There are a lot of nice shops and restaurants between these areas.
If you have never been to these areas(Gakugeidaigaku, Nakameguro, Komazawadaigaku), I highly recommend it, to get a feel of people's lifestyles.
Each area offers a unique atmosphere, so check them out if you get the chance! Shibuya is only one of the many different areas of Tokyo!
I have played basketball for 20years.
In Japan, basketball has recently started to rise in popularity.
I'd like to introduce my local street coat and Japanese basketball brand.
Through not very famous to foreigners, Japanese basketball brands are high quality , so I would like to introduce you to some of my favorite brands.
I really like to chill out in a cafe. On weekends
, I often go to the cafe at the beginning of weekend :).
And I'm a web engineer/designer in Japan.
So I spend a lot of time in cafe to develop, create something.
As you may know, still Japan's free wifi condition is not good.
So place which provides free wifi is really worth for me.
I'd like to introduce you to some Japanese fashion, as there are many good brands around here.
Some famous fashion districts include Daikanyama and Nakameguro.
I would also like to introduce you to some shops in Gakugeidaigaku , since some of my favorite stores as well.
An Izakaya is a type of informal Japanese pub.
Please see detail(wikipedia) .
In Japan, there are many Izakayas.
Although they are not very well known, I personally know many cool Izakayas in Gakugeidaigaku, with a really nice atmosphere.
You can find ramen shops in every corner of Tokyo.
It is the 'fast food' of Japan.
I recommend going to any local spots to try out all kinds of ramen , rather than going to tourist spots like the 'ramen street' or the ramen museum.
If you do eat at ramen chain, I'd recommend eating at the flagship location if you can, as there is a noticeable difference in quality.
Either way, There are many delicious places all over the city, so be adventurous!
Walking is a great way to get around in Tokyo, since it's very dense city.
Of course you can look up popular streets to walk arround in, but I think it is best to just explore for yourself, to get an idea of all the unique atmospheres of the city.
Plus, Tokyo is a relatively safe city, so don't be afraid to explore.
If you are ever unsure about something, just ask the locals, as most of them are very friendly!
Site for any visitors of Japan who has similar tastes :)
